Spring 2013 Symposium: Microsystems Technology: Fulfilling the Promise
For decades, experts have promised that microsystems technology would be a driver of industry growth and value creation. Today, when each of us has dozens of microsystems in our pockets, we know that the experts were right. What, then, is the future promise of micro- and nanotechnology? The 2013 Mid-Atlantic Micro/Nano Alliance Symposium will explore the current industrial expansion of microsystems technology and the new ideas on which tomorrow’s promises will be built.

Keynote: “Medical Microsystems with the Promise to Revolutionize Medical Management”
Jason Kroh - Vice President of R&D at CardioMEMS, Inc.,
Jason Kroh is the Vice President of R&D at CardioMEMS, Inc., an Atlanta based medical device company that has developed a MEMS wireless sensing and communication technology designed to improve the management of chronic diseases. As one of the original employees of the company, he was responsible for the design and development of the Company’s proprietary electronics platform. Prior to joining CardioMEMS in 2001, Jason was the lead Electrical Engineer at Cybersonics, Inc. where he developed the actuating technology for an ultrasonic/sonic driller corer for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory which was applied to medical applications such as lithotripsy and transcutaneous thrombolysis.
Jason holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Gannon University. He holds 23 US patents and has co-authored multiple technical papers on sensing and actuating technologies.

Poster Information
Abstracts are still being accepted for poster presentation at the conference. These submissions will not be considered for archival publication.
All attendees are encouraged to submit a poster in the areas of nanotechnology and microsystems. Individuals wishing to present a poster must submit a 1-2 page extended abstract, including figures. Student poster abstracts submitted after March 14th will not qualify for an additional poster presentation discount, additionally only two student authors per abstract qualify for the discount.
